A Dream Taking Shape

students hands-on class

I can hardly believe I’m writing this to post on our website. Like WE HAVE A WEBSITE!!! This dream is finally coming alive and I am so glad to be getting a chance to share it with you. Since I started homeschooling my oldest 5 years ago, I have dreamed of having a community for him and his younger brother to have consistent friendships while also getting the chance to work on group projects. You may be thinking … “Group projects?!?! But Ashley that was the worst in school. Someone (maybe you) gets stuck with doing a lot more work than their peers”. I totally get that. I can still remember that biology project in 10th grade where I ended up writing the entire lab report while my “partner” was flirting with another classmate. Ugh, it felt like the worst at the time.

I’m not dreaming about that type of group work for my kids. I am dreaming about the type of group work where magic happens. That magic comes in the form of peers inspiring peers to learn more, think bigger, and be more creative. I can’t provide that at home for my kids. I mean yes we have great conversations and do some awesome projects but I’m not their peer and I want them to have those moments of inspiration with fellow kids.

After looking and trying out some other options, I never really found a place to call home in the local homeschool community that had these elements. We have been and are members of some great homeschool co-ops/social groups but these collaborative, hands-on learning opportunities have alluded us or were too far away. That’s when the seed of a dream was planted. What if others are looking for this? What if I helped make this community for my kids and others in the homeschool community?

If I went back in time and asked my 22-year-old self at college graduation what the future held, never in my wildest dreams would I have said to be a homeschooling mom starting a collaborative, hands-on co-op, but here I am and I couldn’t be happier or prouder to be a part of this.

Thanks for considering being a part of this dream.

xoxo Ashley
